Abstract

The proposed project was previously documented in a SFNF that was approved by GDOT on October 10, 2012. The October 2012 proposed project would construct a central turn lane along SR 9/Main Street between Winthrope Park Drive and Winthrope Chase Drive in the City of Alpharetta (Figure 1 ). The central turn lane would be constructed within the existing southeastern travel lane, and the southeastern travel lane would be shifted to the existing right- turn lane that runs along the corridor, except for a 300-foot section at the southern edge of the proposed project where the roadway would be widened within the existing right-of-way (ROW) to accommodate the reconfigured travel lane. In addition, the proposed project would construct improved curb-and-gutter and 5-foot concrete sidewalks along both sides of the roadway. The project would be constructed within the existing 1 00 foot ROW. The proposed project length is 0.25 miles. The changed proposed project would construct turn lanes along SR 9/Main Street from Winthrope Park Drive to approximately 850 feet northwest ofWinthrope Chase Drive. Continual turn lanes would be constructed within the project area in order to improve operations in the area of the SR 9/Main Street intersection with Vaughn Drive. The existing roadway consists of two travel lanes with various segmented sections of left-turn and right-turn lanes.
