Abstract

Grayson Elementary School is located in a residential section of the City of Grayson in Gwinnett County. As part of the Safe Routes to School Program (SRTS), GDOT plans to install sidewalks, crosswalks, and lighting to increase traffic safety, and allow more of the children in the surrounding neighborhoods to walk to school. This portion of the project focuses on filling in gaps between existing sidewalks. The current plan entails the installation of new sidewalks along the northern side of Herring Road from Brannan Boulevard to Herring Woods Trail; along the western side of Brannan Boulevard from the end of the Fire Station No. 8 to Grayson New Hope Road; along the western and eastern sides of Pine Grove Avenue from the start of Pine Grove Village Subdivision to Rosebud Road; and along the eastern side of Rosebud Road from Pine Grove Avenue to Britt Street. The Phase I Archaeological Survey focused on the areas slated for new sidewalk development. The Area of Potential Effect for GDOT Project Grayson Elementary School SRTS has been thoroughly surveyed for archaeological resources and no such resources were located or identified.
