Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project PFH-27(1), Putnam County have been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)". The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. Project PFH-27(1), Putnam County would consist of the replacement of a narrow and structurally deficient bridge on County Road 29 over the Little River west of Eatonton, Georgia. The new structure will be replaced on new location approximately 124 feet north of the existing bridge. County Road 29 will be relocated north of its present location extending from approximately 0.37 miles west of the Little River and tie back into the existing road approximately 0.37 miles east of the river. The existing right-of-way for County Road 29 is approximately 80 feet, while the total proposed right-of-way would vary from approximately 115 to 240 feet. The total proposed project's length would be approximately 0. 75 miles.
