Abstract

On June 26, 1983, Robert S. Webb and Robert J. Hunter of Claude Terry & Associates, Inc. (CTA) conducted a 100 percent cultural resource survey of Oglethorpe Power Corporation's proposed Bernhard Road substation site in Fayette County, Georgia. A review of the site files at the University of Georgia in Athens revealed that no prehistoric or historic resources have been previously recorded within the impact zone. Surface survey and subsurface shovel testing revealed a moderate prehistoric surface scatter dating to the Archaic and Woodland culture periods. Given the heavily disturbed nature of the site, CTA recommends full cultural clearance for the substation site.
