The proposed project consists of maintenance and minor repair on SR 71 from Waring to Cohutta, Georgia. The project includes milling, resurfacing, loop detectors, rumble strips, raised pavement markers, striping, removal/disposal of asphalt, and curb cuts. There are 21 curb cut (wheelchair) ramp locations to be constructed. The existing typical section consists of five 12-foot lanes with asphalt shoulders with right-of-way (ROW) varying throughout the project corridor. The project begins 300 feet north of CR 567 /Roland Hills Road and ends approximately 3,640 feet north of CS 274/Wolfe Street (Figures 1 and 2). The project will take place within existing ROW. No additional ROW or easement is required and the limits of construction will be 5 feet from the edge of pavement.
