Abstract

The proposed project would construct improvements along SR 140/Holcomb Bridge Road between the northbound exit ramps from SR 400 and Market Boulevard (see F'Jgure 1). The improvements would inClude the construction of a 380-foot long additional right-tum lane onto SR 140/Holcomb Bridge Road from the SR 400 exit ramp, which would require relocation of the existing guardrail. The proposed project would also reconstruct the existing median along SR 140/Holcomb Bridge Road in order to reduce conflicts and improve operations at this section of the roadway. The median would be widened at the northbound SR 400 exit ramp, and eastbound through traffic on SR 140/Holcomb Bridge Road would be shifted south to create two through lanes in order to reduce conflicts with nearby left-tum lanes onto Market Boulevard and Old Alabama Road. The proposed project would improve sidewalks and crosswalks on both the north (approximately 270 feet) and south (approximately 420 feet) sides of SR 140/Holcomb Bridge Road, east of the ramp. The proposed project would be constructed within the existing right-of-way (ROW) and no easements would be required.
