Abstract

This project proposes to replace the conventional diamond interchange with a tight urban diamond interchange (TUDI) with ramp intersection spacing of approximately 350 feet. The existing two-lane bridge on SR 215 over 1-75 would be replaced with a four-lane bridge, which would be constructed south of, and parallel to the existing bridge. The proposed bridge consists of one through lane in each direction, one left turn lane in each direction, and would have 8-ft. outside shoulders. SR 215 to the west side of the interchange would consist of one through lane in each direction and a 14-ft. center turn lane; the east side would consist of one through lane in each direction. The new 1-75 ramps would consist of 16-ft. lanes with 12-ft. outside shoulders, of which 10 ft. would be paved, and 4-ft. inside shoulders, of which 2 ft. would be paved. Tippettville Road, east of the interchange would be realigned to intersect with Victory Lane on SR 215 to form a four legged intersection. The project also includes improvements to the 1-75 mainline by provision of a 12-foot auxiliary lane and 12 foot wide shoulder along the east side of 1-75 between Sta. 266+00 and Sta. 300+00.
