The proposed improvements would include a 12-foot wide outside travel lane and an 11-foot wide inner travel lane in each direction. The project also includes a raised median varying in width from 10 to 66 feet. Turn lanes would be included at signalized intersections. No new traffic signals would be added, but existing signals would be upgraded to include turn phasing and pedestrian crossing time. The project would include 16-foot urban shoulders with 30-inch curb and gutter and new five-foot sidewalks separated from the edge of pavement by a six-foot grass strip, with the exception of an area on the north side of West Bay Street between West Lathrop and Graham Street. This area is within the footprint of the limit of access right-of-way (ROW) of I-516.
