Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project F-017-2 (21) Polk County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of the archaeological resources within the project corridor. The proposed project involves the new location Cedartown Bypass Alternate B and associated connector routes. A 250 foot corridor was surveyed for the entire project. Alternate B - Alternate B is proposed to begin near the southern city limit of Cedartown on U.S. 27 and S.R. 1. From there it traverses easterly on new location and ties back into U.S. 27/S.R. 1 just south of Davis Road. Alternate B is approximately 4.6 miles in length.
