Abstract

From September 19-20, 2006, R.S. Webb & Associates (RSWA) conducted a Phase I archeological resources survey of the proposed 2.1-kilometer [(km) (1.3- mile)] Sosbee-Waterford sewer outfall corridor in Forsyth County, Georgia for Patrick Malloy Communities. The project was conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended to meet the conditions of United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) permitting under section 404 of the Clean Water Act. The assessment was conducted to locate and identify cultural resources within the project Area of Potential Effects (APE), and to assess resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) criteria [36CFR Part 60.4].

The 15 meter (m) wide project corridor extends approximately 2.1-km (1.3-mile) south from the southeast comer of the Waterford subdivision, and is located west of Bethelview Road, and north of Drew Road, in Forsyth County, Georgia (Figure 1). The APE was defined as the boundaries of the project corridor (Figure 1). This was based on the location of existing development in the area, current vegetation, and the topography of the project vicinity.
