Abstract

On February 15, 2000, staff archaeologists from the Georgia Department of Transportation conducted an archaeological survey a portion of State Route 88 in Washington County, Georgia. State Route 88 is currently a divided four-lane, two lanes of traffic in each direction divided by a depressed median; The segment surveyed is scheduled for drainage improvements. The survey was conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto. No archaeological resources on or eligible for inclusion to the National Register of Historic Places were located near or within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect (APE).
