Abstract

GDOT project STP-HPP-178-1(34) in Polk County would consist of the widening and reconstruction of US 278 from an existing two lane road into a four lane road from Old Cedartown Road east to tie in to the Nathan Dean Bypass at Rockmart. The project was originally surveyed in 1991 and 1996. Since that time, 14 sediment basins have been added near streams and wetlands along the project corridor, and minor amounts of additional right-of-way have been added near several intersections. Additional required right-of-way for this project varies between 100 and 215 feet and the total project length is 6.11 miles. The current survey covers all easements and right-of-way not covered by the original surveys.
