Abstract

The proposed project would consist of improvements to State Route (SR) 1 04/River Watch Parkway between Quarry Road and Rivershoals Parkway in Augusta, Georgia. The roadway currently has six 12-foot lanes with a 2-foot outside rural paved shoulder and a variable-width raised concrete median with left-tum lanes on the inside shoulder. The proposed project would include milling and overlaying the entire 1.2 mile project length of River Watch Parkway, while also widening to develop a second tum-lane onto the Interstate 20 (1-20) eastbound ramp. This ramp would be widened to accommodate dual left-turn lane with two 12-foot lanes and a 10-foot outside rural shoulder. The 1-20 westbound ramp would also be widened to accommodate dual right-turns onto River Watch Parkway westbound, while narrowing the current travel lanes to 11-foot each. All construction would remain within the existing right-of-way (ROW), which ranges from between 230 to 420 feet in width; there would be no utility relocations required as part of the proposed project.
