The proposed project would improve and enhance pedestrian facilities in Tucker, Georgia. The limits of the project include improvements on both sides of 1st Avenue from Fellowship Road to Lynburn Drive, continuing along Lynburn Drive to Burns Avenue; along both sides of 2nd Street from Railroad Avenue to Fellowship Road; and along both sides of 4th Street between Railroad Avenue and Lavista Road. The total project length is .90 mile. Proposed improvements include Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant six-foot to ten-foot sidewalks, ADA compliant wheelchair ramps, decorative brick paver strips, crosswalks, and drainage improvements. Other amenities may include landscaping, benches, trash receptacles, bike racks, and pedestrian and street lighting. Bicyclists will share the road with other vehicles and lanes striped as SHARROWS. Improvements would be constructed to maintain on-street parking. Angle/parallel parking spaces would be replaced where possible with streetside spaces. Existing right-of-way (ROW) on 1st Avenue varies from 53 to 100 feet, and from 30 to 100 feet on 2nd and 4th Streets; required ROW and easements would not exceed 100 feet in width.
