Abstract

The proposed project is a multi-use path to connect pedestrian and bicycle traffic from the Noonday Creek Trail, located just north of the Town Center Mall, northwards to the Skip Spann Connector, located approximately 1,000 feet north of Chastain Road, in Cobb County, Georgia. The path would follow George Busbee Parkway NW to Big Shanty Road, where it will head eastward until it meets with Hidden Forrest Court. It would follow Hidden Forrest Court until its tie-in with the existing Noonday Creek Trail. The typical section would involve a 13-foot wide trail that consists of an 8-foot bicycle lane and a 5-foot pedestrian lane. This trail would be separated from any existing adjacent roadways by a 3-foot grassed strip between the path and the back of the roadway's curb. In areas where existing paths or sidewalks are located, the project would improve the existing facility to match the proposed typical section. Existing right-of-way (ROW) varies in width from 60 to 215 feet. Proposed ROW would vary in width from 20 to 215 feet.
