Abstract

This addendum to the project consists of incorporating a water quality pond to treat storm water generated by the section of Frank Cochran Drive located on Fort Stewart. Two existing water-filled borrow pits located at latitude 31 degrees 51.07’N, longitude 81 degrees 37.35’W were determined to provide a suitable alternative to satisfy this requirement. Stormwater will be collected in storm drains for the section of roadway on Fort Stewart, then transported to the borrow pits. The water will then go through a natural cleaning process before being discharged through an outlet control structure. No mechanical means will be employed in the system. The project design calls for the earthen dam between the two borrow pits to be removed. No other activities are proposed within the large borrow pit. The only activity proposed within the small borrow pit includes installation of an outfall structure which will not require any fill or excavation.
