Abstract

The proposed project involves widening/improvements to SR 292 in Vidalia from Morningside Drive to Thompson Pond Road in Toombs County and at Wilson Road in Montgomery County. The existing SR 292 consists of two lanes. The proposed project will widen SR 292 from Morningside Drive to lowery Street. SR 292 from Lowery Street to Thompson Pond Road will be resurfaced and restriped from two lanes to three lanes with a center tum lane. A westbound right tum lane will be added to SR 292 at Wilson Road. The current project is an addendum to the proposed widening/improvement to SR 292. Since the original archaeological survey in 1999, two changes have been made to the project corridor. Change 1 consists of a reduction of the required right-of-way (ROW) to fit the boundaries of the current ROW. No additional archaeological work was needed to address Change 1. Change 2 involves altering the angle of the Brice Drive/Old Mt. Vernon Intersection with SR 292. The intersection change requires approximately 0.55 acres of new ROW.
