Abstract

The proposed typical section would consist of two eastbound travel lanes and two westbound travel lanes separated by a 14-foot flush median with 10 foot rural shoulders (6 feet paved) from Felton Road to Milledgeville Bypass/US 441/SR 29. Dedicated left and right turn lanes will be provided where warranted. From Blandy Road to Milledgeville Bypass/US 441/SR 29 five-foot sidewalks would be constructed on both sides of SR 49, separated from curb and gutter by a two-foot wide grass strip. Five-foot sidewalks would continue on the north side of US 49 east of Milledgeville Bypass/US 441/SR 29 to North Richmond Street separated from curb and gutter by a two-foot wide grass strip. No construction or modification would be required to the existing bridge over Fishing Creek for sidewalk construction. Sidewalks would be included within the existing bridge deck width. Sidewalks would be constructed in compliance with Americans Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The additional right-of-way required for construction of this proposed project would vary from 0-ft. to 50-ft. The project length for SR 49 improvements from just west of Felton Drive to west side of bridge is approximately 2.65 miles. The total project length, including road and sidewalk improvements, would be approximately 2.81 miles. The changes for this reevaluation consist of additional survey area beginning at the east end of Lake Drive and ending at North Richmond Street, a distance of approximately 241.3 feet.
