Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed Section 106 Review Documentation, FCC Form 621, for our client, SBA Network Services, Inc. concerning their proposed 'Powers Ferry' site. ECA's report assesses a federal undertaking at the subject site where SBA Network Services, Inc. intends a collocation on its telecommunications structure and a 4,215 square foot compound expansion. The collocation and ground expansion are proposed for their existing facility located at 2133 Powers Ferry Road near Marietta in Cobb County, Georgia.

Our site visit, research, and analysis has revealed that during the construction phase of the adjacent office buildings, the parking garage, the easement where the 4,215 square foot compound expansion will occur, the access road to the office complex, the Powers Ferry intersection, and the 1-285 access and frontage roads, substantial disturbance of the top soils has occurred. Any cultural-resource bearing soils have been stripped away or are buried under substantial overburden to greater than two feet below the proposed project construction depth.

Therefore, it is my professional opinion that no archaeological field survey should be performed at the project site at this time. The likelihood of this proposed facility expansion effecting archaeological resources is remote.
