Abstract

This project consists of safety and operational improvements to a 1.84 mile length of two-lane Queen Mill Road in southeastern Cobb County. In general the project consists of lessening several curves in the road, adding sidewalks, curbs, gutters and improving several intersections. Queen Mill will remain a two-lane road with 11-ft lanes. The project is composed of two phases and both phases were subject to the archeological survey described in this form.

The area of potential effect for the project is the 1.84 mile (2.96 km) length of Queen Mill Road, which extends from SR 139/Mableton Parkway to SR 8/US 78Neterans Parkway, plus approximately 400ft lengths of three intersecting roads, Ivey Road and both directions along Hunnicutt Road. The width of the project area was highly variable, ranging from only the existing right-of-way on the outsides of curves to as much as 90ft (27 m) on the inside of curves. For most of the length, the total project width varied between 100 and 130 ft (30 and 40 m) and was centered on the existing 40-80 ft (12-24 m) right-of-way.
