Abstract

Cultural Resource Inventory II studies were undertaken at the Oliver Marina Complex, Tract 0-5, Middle Chattahoochee Hydroelectric Generating Project (FERC 2177) in Muscogee County, Georgia. Planned developments within Tract 0-5 potentially pose a threat of adverse effect to cultural resources that may be present within the tract. Pedestrian survey augmented with subsurface inspection through screened shovel cuts was employed to determine whether any cultural properties were present within the tract. One property was identified. This property represented a twentieth century occupation, involving an industrial facility, possibly associated with municipal water or sewer management. The property was recommended ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Poor integrity within the cultural property prevented its reflection of any major theme of regional development, and hampered the ability of the property to contribute any historical and/or archaeological information to the understanding of the historic development of Muscogee County or the surrounding region.
