Abstract

The SR 20 ATMS project expands upon the current Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The project will consist of the installation of a communication backbone of fiber optic cable and traffic surveillance cameras along SR 20 between 1-985 and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. The total project section is approximately 2.6 miles in length. The fiber cable will connect on the east end to the existing cable running along SR 20 (Buford Drive). On the west end, the fiber cable will connect to an existing hybrid fiber trunk cable which runs along Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. There will also be a major splice to an additional fiber trunk cable at US 23/SR 13(Buford Highway) This project will also include the installation of drop cables to connect the existing traffic signals along SR 20 to the new fiber trunk cable. There are total of eight (8) traffic signals within the project limits that will be connected to communications cables. Six (6) CCTV sites along the SR 20 corridor will be included in this project.
