Abstract

On May 6, 2009, SEAC Archeologist Steven Kidd accompanied by Archeological Aid Christina Jones, departed Tallahassee en route to Chattanooga, TN to conduct archeological testing in advance of the bridge rehabilitation at Alexander's and Slough Bridges . Archeological Phase I shovel testing and an additional metal detector survey were conducted within the Area of Potential Effect (APE) over the course of the trip . Although several artifacts associated with the Battle of Chickamauga were recovered during the metal detector phase of the project, no significant historic or prehistoric cultural resources were located during this or the shovel testing portion of the project. No further testing is recommended.
