Abstract

The proposed project involves the replacement of the County Road (CR) 131 /Elliott Road Bridge over Walnut Creek. The project is located approximately 0.5 mile outside the city limits of McDonough, Georgia in Henry County. The proposed bridge will be installed at the existing location along with improvements to the roadway approaches on the north and south sides of the bridge. The existing roadway includes two 1 0.5-foot wide travel lanes and 5-foot with variable width rural shoulders and roadway ditches.

The existing Elliott Road Bridge over Walnut Creek was constructed in 1960 and consists of a two-lane structure measuring 120 feet in length and 25.5 feet in width. The existing six span superstructure is comprised of precast slab units with a maximum superstructure depth of 20 inches. The main channel span is 40 feet long and the remaining spans are 20 feet long.

The proposed roadway typical section includes two 11-foot wide travel lanes with 8-foot wide rural shoulders (2-feet paved) and roadway ditches and fill slopes. The proposed Elliott Road Bridge over Walnut Creek will include two 11-foot lanes, 8-foot shoulders, and 1.625-foot traffic barriers. The total bridge width is 41 .25 feet. The proposed single span bridge length is 145 feet using 72-inch prestressed precast Bulb Tee beams and a cast-in-place deck. Area of Potential Effect (APE) :

The APE for the addendum survey consists of areas on the 2016 plans that were beyond the 2015 survey limits for the project. An additional 100 foot expanded survey corridor (ESC) was also surveyed beyond the APE limits.
