Abstract

TerraNext was contracted by the NorthStar Team to perform a Phase I Cultural Resource Survey of the proposed Cellular Tower Location designated Wild Turkey (GA-1751-A) in Cleveland, White County, Georgia. A pedestrian and vehicular reconnaissance survey of the proposed expansion area was conducted to determine the possible existence of cultural resources, including archaeological sites, historic buildings and other resources, and cemeteries. The survey was performed by Dustin Biddle and Bea Schrottner on October 24 and November 11, 2003. Bea Schrottner served as the supervisor of the project. The survey was completed in compliance with Georgia Historic Preservation Division guidelines.

The proposed location for the cellular tower at the Wild Turkey Site is located at 372 Cantrell Road in Cleveland, Georgia. The proposed tower is to be 185 feet in height and of monopole design. The site is depicted by the USGS 7.5 topographic quadrangle portions "Cleveland (primary), Leaf, Helen and Cowrock, Georgia". Due to tower height and location, the Area of Potential Effect (APE) was set at one mile from the center of the leased tower parcel, which is located at: latitude 34°-36'-49.64" and longitude 83°-45'-31 .50" (see Figure 1 ).
