Abstract

On July 31, 2007 Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. archeologically surveyed a 1 km (.6 mi) length of proposed transmission line corridor along both sides of State Route 183 immediately south of the exiting Juno Substation. The exact placement of this length of line has not been determined, so the area of potential effect was established as a 15 m (50 ft) wide corridor on both sides of the highway, except for the northern most portion, where the corridor on the west side of SR 183 was 45 m (150 m) wide. The survey resulted in the recording of two sites. We recommend that neither site is eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places because of the lack of further research potential. Therefore, in regard to archeological sites, we recommend clearance for the project to proceed.
