Abstract

The purpose of this project is bridge rehabilitation at six bridge locations over Interstate (I-) 20 in Carroll County, Georgia (Table 1)(Figures 1-6). The proposed project will include raising each bridge between 1 to 5 inches to a minimum vertical clearance of 17 feet. Roadway shoulder and slope work will be required to match the new grade of the bridge, extending cut-fill limits beyond the existing toe-of-slope by no more than 15 feet. Additional proposed maintenance activities include replacing or extending existing draining structures within the project limits, replacing rip-rap at the drainage outlets, strengthening or replacing caps, repairing/replacing edge beams, metalizing the steel super structure, epoxy injection of cracks in the substructure, deck joint replacement, and application of co-polymer deck overlay. Existing ROW varies from location to location. At Bridge 1 existing ROW varies between 110 feet to 249 feet, is approximately 97 feet at Bridge 2, between 158 feet to 122 feet at Bridge 3, between 102 feet and 159 feet at Bridge 4, is approximately 124 feet at Bridge 5, and approximately 83 feet at Bridge 6. All proposed activities will take place within existing ROW.
