Abstract

The project would construct a single-lane roundabout approximately 1,100 feet south of the existing intersection. Klondike Road would be realigned approximately 1,100 feet south in order to intersect with McDaniel Mill Road at the proposed roundabout location. The previous location of Klondike Road would remain intact as Old Klondike Road in order to provide access to houses in this area. Old Klondike Road would be accessed via the existing intersection, which would remain intact as a four-legged intersection. The pavement associated with the existing alignment of McDaniel Mill Road at the existing intersection would be removed. The existing ROW of McDaniel Mill Road is approximately 100 feet, and the existing ROW of Klondike Road varies between 66 feet and 100 feet. The proposed ROW of the new location of Klondike Road would be 100 feet, and would be require approximately 1,600 feet of new location for the roadway and proposed roundabout (Koch 2014).

Currently, a number of different modifications have been added to the concept which would increase the project footprint (see Figure 2). These additions are:

• 425 feet south along Klondike Road SW

• 550 feet south along McDaniel Mill Road SW

• 15 foot easements along the north and south side of Hurst Road SW

• 3 driveway easements immediately north of the intersection of Klondike Road SW and

McDaniel Mill Road SW

• 350 feet east along Klondike Road SW

• 15 foot easements along the north and south side of Klondike Road SW.
