The proposed project would construct streetscape improvements within the City of Clarkston on East Ponce de Leon Avenue, Market Street, Rowland Street, and Norman Streets. Proposed improvements would vary on each street, but generally involve streetscape improvements including: sidewalks, landscaped buffers, curb and gutter, bike lanes, pedestrian signalization, pedestrian lighting, gateway monuments, bus shelters, landscaping, and drainage improvements. All pedestrian improvements would be in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The total project length is approximately 1.4 miles. Easements and acquisitions vary from approximately 0 to 40 feet. Along East Ponce de Leon Avenue, an active CSX rail line is parallel to the south side of the road. Improvements on the south side of East Ponce de Leon would occur within existing right‑of‑way (ROW), and not extend within railroad ROW. There would be one pedestrian crossing of the railroad adjacent to the Market Street crossing of the railroad. This pedestrian crossing would be perpendicular to the rail line.
