Abstract

The proposed project would consist of the reconstruction of the on-ramp from Abernathy Road to SR 400 northbound to add approximately one-quarter mile of pavement. This extension would move the point at which drivers must merge with the SR 400 mainline traffic further north to allow motorists additional time and distance to accelerate and merge. This improvement would also increase the distance between the northbound on-ramp and the new "half-diamond" interchange at Hammond Orive. The existing right-of-way (ROW) widths range from 153 feet to 190 feet at its maximum, and from the center line of the on-ramp are between 53 feet and 153 feet. All construction would occur within the existing SR 400 ROW.
