Abstract

The project provided emergency repairs to a culvert located on West Lake Avenue south of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and between Madrona Street and Thomas Drive in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. Flooding caused erosion and scour in the channel and approaches of the culvert. To repair the damage, riprap was installed at the upstream and downstream wingwalls and on the embankment. The area of repair was approximately 25 feet long by 20 feet wide on one upstream corner, equaling 500 square feet, and 20 feet long by 12 feet wide on both sides of the downstream slope, equaling 480 square feet. Approximately 75 percent of the added material was replacement for what was eroded. All work occurred within existing right-of-way.
