Abstract

The proposed project would convert the diamond interchange at CR 665/Carbondale Road and I- 75 into a series of three roundabouts, one at the I-75 northbound ramps, one at the I-75 southbound ramps, and one at the US 41/SR 3 intersection with CR 665/Carbondale Road. The existing bridge taking CR 665/Carbondale Road over I-75 will be replaced as part of the project. The typical section for CR 665 from the I-75 southbound ramps to the I-75 northbound ramps will be a two-12' lane urban section with a 34' raised median. The typical section for CR 665 from the I-75 northbound ramps to the US 41/SR 3 intersection will be a four-lane urban section divided by a 16' raised median. Sidewalks will be provided on one side of the roadway in selected areas. The beginning of the project will be approximately 500 feet west of the existing I- 75 northbound ramps on the existing CR 665/Carbondale Road alignment, and the ending of the project will be approximately 500 feet east of the US 41/SR 3 intersection. Existing right-of-way for the project varies from approximately 80 feet to 160 feet. Required right-of-way for the project varies up to a maximum of approximately 260 feet. This project description has been revised from one involving a revision of the diamond interchange as well as a new location alignment of CR 665/Carbondale Road west of the I-75 interchange, a Carbondale Road Connector, and the realignment of Dug Gap Road. An archaeological survey consistent with these specifications was performed within the project corridor.
