Abstract

The proposed improvements would replace the Courtland Street Bridge over the CSX Railroad between MLK Drive and Gilmer Street within the City of Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. The project length is approximately 0.2 mile. The existing Courtland Street Bridge is a structure that accommodates three 10-foot travel lanes and one 14-foot travel lane to accommodate buses, curb, md gutter and seven-foot sidewalks. The existing bridge is 1,077 feet long and has 28 spans with a maximum span length of 84 feet. The existing right-of-way width is 60 feet. The bridge has been temporarily shored. The new structure would match the existing grade and widths (four travel lanes, curb, gutter, and seven-foot sidewalks). The replacement bridge would provide the necessary horizontal and vertical deranges for the adjusted or added railroad tracks associated with the proposed multi-modal terminal. No additional right-of-way would be required. No previously recorded archaeological sites are located within the project boundaries.
