Abstract

An intensive archaeological resources survey was carried out for the proposed Villa Rica to Boat Rock Transmission Line in Douglas County, Georgia. The project was carried out in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 6I. The corridor surveyed is approximately 3.64 km (2.26 mi) long and 30 meters (II 0 ft) wide. Much of the corridor is adjacent to an existing pipeline right-of-way. The project corridor begins just south of Riverside Parkway at an existing transmission line right-of-way, and extends north over Riverside Parkway and River Road. The corridor continues northeast to a small unnamed lake where it takes a sharp turn east, then crosses a dirt road, and ends at an existing substation. This survey was conducted for Jordan, Jones, and Goulding, Inc.

No archaeological sites were identified during fieldwork. One (I) isolated find was located in the project area. This isolated find is considered ineligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. The proposed project will not affect significant archaeological resources. No additional archaeological resources investigations are recommended.
