Abstract

Edwards-Pitman Environmental, Inc. (EPEI) conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of State Route (SR) 42/Main Street at one location and County Route (CR) 176/Boy Scout Road at one location in Byron, Peach County, Georgia on March 30, 2015, (GDOT P. I. No. 0010605, TE No. 131218-003). The work was completed under a contract with Saunders Engineering Consultants Inc., of Centerville, Georgia. The proposed project will consist of the construction of 6-inch header curb and 5-foot to 6-foot decorative sidewalks with brick inlay and street furniture including benches, waste receptacles, and break-away lighting along Main Street from Moseley Road to SR 49. The length of this portion of the project is .31 mile. The second portion of the project will construct 5-foot sidewalks and 6 by 24 inch curb and gutter along the west side of Boy Scout Road. These sidewalks will connect a residential area, including two housing projects, with a small shopping area. Currently, some sidewalk exists along CR 176/Boy Scout Road, but is of sub-standard width and is in very poor condition. The length of this portion of the project is .46 mile. No required right-of-way (ROW) or easements are anticipated.
