The proposed project would replace the narrow and structurally deficient bridge on SR 52 over Mountaintown Creek approximately 10.80 km (6.71 mi) northwest of the city of Ellijay. The new structure and approaches will be relocated approximately 6.00 m (19.68 ft) north of the present structure to correct poor alignment. The total proposed project length would be approximately 0.50 km (0.31 mi). The existing right-of-way for SR 52 is approximately 45.72 m (150 ft). The additional required right-of-way will vary from approximately 16 to 46 m (52.49 to 150.92 ft). An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed right-of-way was conducted for the entire 0.6 km (0.38 mi) project corridor.
