Abstract

The proposed project consists of pedestrian improvements in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia. These improvements would occur within the vicinity of Blandy Hills Elementary School, Creekside Elementary School, Oak Hill Middle School, and Eagle Ridge Elementary School. These improvements include installation of new sidewalks, crosswalk, a multi-use path, and pedestrian bridges. All improvements will be constructed within existing right-of-way (ROW) of Baldwin County Board of Education property. The existing ROW for all areas does not exceed 25 feet.

At Blandy Hill Elementary School, the proposed improvements include a 6-foot wide sidewalk (approximately 210 feet long) constructed at the south entrance to the school heading east toward Blandy Road. A new crosswalk would also be constructed at the south entrances between Blandy Hills Elementary and Creekside Elementary Schools.

At Creekside Elementary School, the proposed improvements include a 6-foot wide sidewalk (approximately 715 feet long) constructed on the east side of Blandy Road going north toward Fishing Creek. A new crosswalk would be constructed at the north entrance of Creekside Elementary School. A new combination of concrete and timber pedestrian bridge (approximately 260 feet long x 10 feet wide) would be constructed parallel an existing bridge crossing over Fishing Creek going north toward Oak Hill Middle School.

At Oak Hill Middle School, the proposed improvements include a 6-foot wide sidewalk (totaling approximately 2,384 feet long) constructed along the south side of South ABC Street going east toward Stadium Drive. Improvements also include a timber boardwalk bridge (approximately 50 feet long x 8 feet wide), would be constructed over tributary Fishing Creek. A second 6-foot wide sidewalk (totaling approximately 2,800 feet long), would begin at the intersection of South ABC Street and Stadium Drive along the west side of Stadium Drive going north toward Eagle Ridge elementary School and intersect North ABC Street. The new multi-use path would continue along the south side of North ABC Street going south and end at the north entrance across from the Oak Hill Middle School baseball field. A new proposed 10-foot wide Multi-use path (totaling approximately 1,248 feet long) would be constructed beginning at the US 441 bridge along the bank of Fishing Creek going northwest and end at South ABC Street. This Multi-use trail would eventually tie to the multi-use path in Baldwin’s Greenway Plan.

At Eagle Ridge Elementary School, the proposed improvements include a new 6-foot wide sidewalk (approximately 680 feet long) would be constructed on the north side of North ABC Street going east and end at the south entrance of Eagle Ridge Elementary School and a new crosswalk.
