Abstract

The Cemetery Trail Transportation Enhancement Project proposes the conversion of existing Cemetery Street in Marietta, Georgia into a 10-foot, paved, multi-use trail, for a length of approximately 845 feet (.16 mile), beginning at Powder Springs Street. This section of Cemetery Street will be permanently closed to vehicular traffic. The remaining section of Cemetery Street to West Atlanta Street, approximately 715 feet (.14 mile), will be reconstructed to provide a shared use facility for bicycles with one ten-foot lane in each direction and appropriate shared lane pavement markings to indicate that it is a shared roadway facility between motorized vehicles and bicycles. Cemetery Street will no longer have a direct motor vehicle connection to Powder Springs Street. The purpose of the shared roadway is to provide continuity from the multi-use trail along this eastern portion of Cemetery Street to West Atlanta Street.
