Abstract

The proposed project will reduce the number of travel lanes on Hill Street from four lanes t two lanes. Hill Street will be restriped to provide 15ft wide shared lanes with sharrow pavement markings to accommodate both automobiles and bicycles. The existing angled parking spaces will be restriped from 13ft to 19ft in length. The proposed project will improve all three project corridors by adding new sidewalks and curb and gutter drainage where none exists. Existing sidewalks and curb and gutter drainage will be reconstructed where necessary. Bump-out curb extensions will be constructed at intersection comers where appropriate. Resurfacing will be performed where necessary. The project will also add pedestrian level lighting, decorative sign posts, landscaping, street trees, handicap access ramps, bicycle parking racks, and improved markings at street crossings. The project improvements will include amenities such as benches and trash receptacles. All construction will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Ad (ADA).
