Abstract

The proposed project would provide landscaping improvements for the State Route (SR) 20/SR 138 corridor beginning at the northern right-of-way (ROW) line of Interstate 20 (1-20) to Centennial Olympic Parkway in Rockdale County, Georgia. The project's southern terminus will be approximately the northern ROW line of westbound 1-20. The project's northern terminus will be Centennial Olympic Parkway. The total project length would be approximately 3.65 miles. The maximum width of the APE along the shoulder does not exceed 200 feet. The maximum width of the APE along the median does not exceed 50 feet.

Proposed improvements include the addition of new trees and shrubs within the existing grassed median of SR 20/SR 138 beginning just south of Sigman Road and extending to the project end. Between the 1-20 ROW and Dogwood Drive, planting would occur on the northwest side of SR 138 along the road shoulder. No additional ROW would be required. Trees may be planted individually, in small groupings or in combination with shrubs. All new landscaping will be compatible with the surrounding area and as approved by authorities with Rockdale County and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). No additions, removals or modifications to utilities, sidewalks, ramps, roadway intersections, lighting or signage is proposed.
