Abstract

The proposed project includes the construction of two roundabouts in the City of Sandy Springs, Georgia. The project would begin at the intersection of CR 655/Johnson Ferry Road and SR 9/Roswell Road and CR 1318/Mt. Vernon Highway and SR 9/Roswell Road. The first roundabout would be constructed at the CR 655/Johnson Ferry Road, CR 1318/Mt. Vernon Highway, and CR 263/Boylston Road. A common section of CR 655/Johnson Ferry Road and CR 1318/Mt. Vernon Highway between the two proposed roundabouts would consist of four 11-foot travel lanes with curb and gutter and multi-use paths on both sides of the roadway; the various proposed project sections all consist of 11-foot lanes with curb and gutter and multi-use paths on both sides. The second roundabout is proposed at the intersection of CR 655/Johnson Ferry Road, CR 1318/Mt. Vernon Highway, and the Vernon Towers driveway entrance. The typical section for CR 655/Johnson Ferry Road and for CR 1318/Mt. Vernon Highway from SR 9/Roswell Road to the first roundabout consists of three lanes. The typical section for CR 655/Johnson Ferry Road and CR 1318/Mt. Vernon Highway east of the roundabouts includes two lanes.

The existing right-of-way (ROW) width along CR 655/Johnson Ferry Road in the project area varies from approximately 40 to 50 feet, and the proposed ROW width would vary from approximately 66 to 91 feet. Along Roswell Road, the existing ROW width is approximately 65 feet, and the proposed ROW width would be approximately 81 feet. Along Mt. Vernon Highway in the project area, the existing ROW width varies from approximately 40 to 50 feet, and the proposed ROW would vary between approximately 75 to 92 feet. Along Boyston Road, the existing ROW is approximately 40 feet, and the proposed ROW would be approximately 70 feet.
