Abstract

The recommendations of the archaeological survey (Webb 2004) suggest that no clearing be done at eligible sites (including 9F0218) unless it can be shown that the site will not be adversely affected. Since the average reported depth of cultural materials at the site is 35 cm below surface, there appears to be a good chance of adversely affecting the site, even with minimal ground disturbance. We recommend that vehicles be kept off the site as much as possible, that all clearing be done by hand, and that stumps be left in place. We also think it would be preferable to have an archaeologist monitoring the activity.
