Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The subject site includes a 10-foot by 30-foot compound expansion southwest and contiguous with an existing fenced compound that contains an equipment shelter and a telecommunications structure. The subject site is an undeveloped wooded area that will be been cleared and graded for construction of an 11.5-foot by 20-foot equipment shelter and 3-foot by 3-foot stoop to house Cingular Wireless's collocation equipment. The facility is located at 95 Club House Drive, Saint Simons Island, Glynn County, Georgia.

This archaeological assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the undertaking, on the project site, might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist. No previously recorded archaeological sites were identified through our review of available cultural records and databases within the area for direct effects. Furthermore, no archaeological cultural resources were encountered during the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment.

We conclude that the undertaking would not affect any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Therefore, for archaeological cultural resources, we recommend a finding of No Effect for the proposed undertaking.
