Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, the advance protective buy acquisition, STP00-2946-00(00 I), Bartow County, has been surveyed with respect to archeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archeological resources within the proposed project's area ofpotentiaJ environmental effect.

The proposed acquisition is for an advanced protective buy acquisition for parcel 52 along the corridor of the SR 1 13 /0id Alabama Road widening project in Bartow County. The total parcel size is 2.150 acres. The area to be acquired for the protective buy includes 0.700 acre of right-of-way and 0.237 acre of easement.

The area was previously surveyed for the widening project by both Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. in 1999 and New South Associates, Inc. in 2007 and 2008. No archaeological resources were identified in the area of the advanced protective buy acquisition. These guidelines provide general survey boundaries and methodological approaches to archeological surveys based on the type/scope of work of proposed highway projects and are followed during the initial identification of archaeological resources.

By agreement, since no archaeological resources were located within the project's area of potential effect, no signed concurrence form the State Historic Preservation Officer is required. It is concluded, therefore, that the project will have no effect upon archaeological resources on or eligible for inclusion in the NRHP provided that the project conforms to that described above."
