Abstract

The proposed project begins at the SR 400 Northbound exit ramp at Windward Parkway and travels eastward along Windward Parkway to the intersection at North Point Parkway. The project would be constructed within the existing right-of-way. Project improvements consist of the reconfiguration of the existing right tum lanes on the SR 400 Northbound exit ramp at Windward Parkway and the addition of a continuous right tum lane in the eastbound direction from the SR 400 Northbound exit ramp to North Point Parkway. The proposed reconfiguration of the right tum Janes would relocate the inside right tum Jane parallel to the existing left turn Janes at the ramp intersection, and would relocate the right turn lane to provide a continuous right tum Jane eastbound to North Point Parkway. The typical section along the ramp would maintain the existing two 12-foot left tum lanes and two 12-foot right tum lanes, rural type shoulder treatments, and an open channel drainage system. The typical section along Windward Parkway eastbound would consist of three 12-foot travel lanes (two eastbound lanes, one right turn lane), a 4-foot bike lane, urban type shoulder treatments with curb and gutter, 5-foot sidewalks, and a closed drainage system. Additional improvements include signal modifications, relocation or replacement of mast arm signal poles, and relocation or replacement of lighting fixtures.

Cities adjacent to the project corridor include Alpharetta and Milton, Georgia. The project corridor is approximately 200 feet wide, and included additional reconnaissance at each intersection in which cross streets were surveyed up to 500 feet in both directions. The total project length is approximately 0.25 mile.
