Abstract

The Sugarloaf Parkway Extension II proposes to extend Sugarloaf Parkway as a limited access four-lane freeway with a depressed 44-foot wide median from 1-85 to SR 316 (University Parkway). The proposed section would consist of two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, a 44-foot depressed grassed median, 12-foot wide outside shoulders (1 0-foot paved and 2-foot grass) and 6-foot wide inside shoulders (4-foot paved and 2-foot grass). This section of new limited access freeway has interchanges at 1-85, SR 124 (Braselton Highway), Fence Road, and SR 316 (University Parkway). The project will also include an interchange at SR 316 and Harbins Road with collector-distributor roads along SR 316 between Sugarloaf Parkway and Harbins Road. Collector-distributor roads will also be included along 1-85 between SR 20 and the new interchange of SR 324. The project length includes 6.8 miles along the new alignment of Sugarloaf Parkway II; 3.3 miles of collector-distributor roads along 1-85 and 2.7 miles of collector-distributors along SR 316. The proposed new location right-of-way is a minimum of 200 feet and expands to as much as 2000 feet at the interchanges of Sugarloaf Parkway at SR 316 and at 1-85 (See Attachments). This survey was for an early acquisition parcel, which would be included in the project corridor. The parcel is an approximately 1-acre early acquisition parcel along the Sugarloaf Parkway Extension II project alignment. The parcel (ID R7095 013) is located at 2183 Braselton Highway between Willoughby Drive and Lena Carter Road.
