The Historic Preservation Division (HPD) has reviewed the information submitted concerning the above referenced undertaking. Our comments are offered to assist the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and its applicants in complying with the provisions of the Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (NHPA). In order for us to complete our review and make a determination of eligibility and effect, we will need additional information.
Due to the size and setting of the subject property, as well as the presence of previously recorded archaeological site s in the immediate vicinity, we recommend that an intense (Phase I) archaeological survey of the project area be conducted by a qualified archaeologist.
