This report contains an assessment on the deterioration of the Rood Landing site (9SW1) using a previously conducted exploratory excavation in 1955 by Joseph R. Caldwell.
In the final analysis, the currently aborted overall development has worked to the very definite detriment of the archaeological site located at Rood Landing. Until someone or some agency steps forward with a practical plan for immediate stabilization, the site will continue to deteriorate at an ever increasing pace, eventually leading to irreparable damage to one of the more important archaeological sites in the southeastern United States.
