Abstract

We have determined this action to be a "potential undertaking". The issuance of a government guarantee is the triggering mechanism that requires a review by the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO), in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended (16 U.S.C. 470 et. Seq.)

AgSouth Farm Credit, ACA, located in Baxley, GA, has received a loan request from the above referenced on which a Farm Service Agency (FSA) loan guarantee will be required. The purpose of the loan will be for Rocky D and Erica L Courson to construct two broiler houses in Appling County, GA. We have determined this action to be a "potential undertaking". The obligation of guarantee loan funds is the triggering mechanism that requires a review by the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO), in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended (16 U.S.C. 470 eteq.).

The property is located approximately 8 miles south of Baxley, Appling County, OA on County Road # 552. We have included original digital color photographs of the proposed project area and its immediate vicinity. The photographs have been keyed to a site plan indication their direction of view. A topographic/Quad map of the area of potential effect, a location map, plats and a site sketch based on aerial photo are also enclosed.\

As part of FSA's responsibility to comply with NHPA, Section 106 Consultation Process, it is necessary to consult with your office. We know of no archeological, cultural, or historical Sites located on this property that would be effected by this undertaking. Please advise if there are any archaeological, cultural, or historical sites within the area of potential effect that we are unaware of any may be effected by this undertaking.
