Abstract

Interagency Archeological Services-Atlanta is soliciting proposals for a Historical Investigation pertaining to historic period settlement along the Savannah River in the areas to be affected by the construction of the Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake, Georgia and South Carolina. This research will provide the background information required for the archeological investigation of significant historic sites and engineering elements within the Richard B. Russell Multiple Resource Area. Specific problems relating to the development and changes in settlement and subsistence systems within the Savannah River Valley will be addressed during this study. This work will be conducted in compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (Public Law 89-665) and the Archeological and Historic Preservation Act (Public Law 93-291). These investigations are estimated to cost between $50,000 and $60,000.
